v3.0.58 — Exercise Images & Muscle Insights Update

Latest
Type: Major Feature + Performance + Reliability Tags: exercise-images, exercise-picker, muscle-insights, persistent-mode, aac, data-safety, announcements, localization, mindful-bell

Highlights

  • • See each exercise on the timer as you train. Tap the image to enlarge it and control the animation.
  • • Find the right exercise with images, a card view, and filters by activity, muscle group, and equipment, now across 203 exercises.
  • • Muscle insights shows the muscles your workouts trained on a body map over 7 days, 28 days, or a custom range.
  • • Persistent Mode encodes up to 4× faster with files about 10× smaller than WAV.

✨ New Features

  • • Animated Exercise Images on the Timer — The timer shows the current exercise, and the next one during rest. Tap the image to enlarge it and control the animation. Built-in routines are included; choose the image style and figure in App Settings.
  • • Exercise Picker with Images and Filters — The exercise picker adds images, a card view with animations, and filters by activity, muscle group, and equipment. It now lists 203 exercises, up from 163.
  • • Muscles Worked — Tap ⓘ on a workout card to see the muscles it trained. Covers workouts saved from this version on, for exercises chosen from the picker.
  • • Muscle Insights — Tap "View muscle insights" in History to see the muscles you trained on a body map over 7 days, 28 days, or a custom range. Part of Premium History & Metrics.

⚡ Performance

  • • Faster Persistent Mode — AAC preparation is up to 4× faster than before, and an hour-long routine takes about 15 MB instead of 170 MB as WAV. To use AAC for every routine, choose "Always use AAC" under Settings › AAC Encoding Threshold.

🎨 UI Improvements

  • • Timer Layout — Pause, Skip, and Stop buttons are moved to a floating bar to stay visible on smaller screens.

🛠 Reliability

  • • Nothing Lost Without Your Choice — Deletes now ask first and offer Undo. The routine editor asks before discarding changes and keeps your draft if Android closes the app.
  • • Ending a Workout — Stopping a workout after at least a minute asks whether to save it. Interrupted or stopped workouts wait in a new Not saved yet section in History until you save or discard them.
  • • Backups and Export — Export All and the weekly backup now include Countdown presets and Stopwatch data, and the backup tells you if it fails. Android Auto Backup works again.
  • • Persistent Mode Needs Notifications — If notifications are off, Play now asks you to turn them on instead of quietly running the workout in TTS Mode.
  • • Announce Next Interval — In Persistent Mode, music ducks under every cue and the preview speaks the full announcement: name, reps, weight, and distance. Long interval names are no longer cut short, and every repetition of an interval is announced.

🌍 Localization

  • • Announcements in Your Routine's Language — In TTS Mode, "Next:", "Almost done!", and the countdown are now spoken in the routine's language, not English.

ℹ️ Removed Feature

  • • Mindful Bell Moved to ZenOmm — As announced in v2.2.57, Mindful Bell has moved to our ZenOmm app. Bell sounds in your routines are not affected.

v2.2.57 — Metrics, Calories & Exercise Picker Update

Type: Major Feature + UX + Reliability Tags: metrics, calories, exercise-picker, workout-history, persistent-mode, audio, android-16, premium, localization

Highlights

  • • Track body weight, sleep, water, heart rate, or any metric you create, each with its own chart, goal, and log.
  • • See calorie estimates for every routine and finished workout, personalised from your profile.
  • • A new full-screen exercise picker with groups, search, favourites, and recents, plus editable Workout History with manual entries and free import/export.
  • • Persistent Mode starts reliably with smaller audio files, music keeps playing under announcements, purchase and restore fixes, and Android 16 support.

✨ New Features

  • • Metrics — Log body weight, sleep, water, heart rate, or any metric you define. Each metric has its own chart, goal, and log sheet, with a table editor, settings, import, export, and recovery. Open it from History & Metrics or swipe to the new Metrics view. Premium feature with a 14-day trial on install; body weight logging stays free.
  • • Calorie Estimates — Routines, previews, and the routine editor show what a full run burns, per interval. Every finished workout stores an estimate based on the time actually worked. Estimates are personalised from your Metrics profile (weight, height, age, sex), with a general fallback when no profile is set. Rest-only routines show no estimate.
  • • Exercise Picker — A full-screen picker replaces the nested exercise list: 17 exercise groups, search across every group, favourites and recents, and exercise names in the app language with one-tap translation for routines you already have.
  • • Workout History Editing — Edit notes and intervals after a workout, add a workout by hand, and use Import and Export without Premium. A one-line toolbar with an Info modal explains every control, and Top Exercises now ranks real work only (rest, warm-up, and cool-down intervals are excluded).
  • • Run Screen Totals — The Total line shows the routine's planned length. Tap it to cycle through Elapsed, Remaining, and Skipped; your choice is remembered.
  • • Vopolabs on Facebook — A new card in the Support view opens our Facebook page in the Facebook app or your browser.

🎨 UI Improvements

  • • Swipe Navigation — Metrics is a swipe stop between Countdown and History. New installs start without World Clock and Mindful Bell in the swipe ring (both remain available from the menu), Settings lists the stops in swipe order, and swiping toward a removed stop explains itself once.

🛠 Reliability

  • • Smaller Audio Files — Generated audio for long routines (over 60 minutes by default) is encoded as compact AAC after a per-device check, with WAV as the fallback.
  • • Android 16 — The app now targets Android 16 (API 36). The countdown's reboot record survives a cancel, and the exact-alarm banner lost a misleading button.

🌍 Localization

  • • Translation Backlog Cleared — More than 1,600 previously untranslated strings, including the Privacy panel and the "Recently interrupted?" card, are now translated across all 26 interface languages. Playback notification buttons and purchase messages are translated too.
  • • Right-to-Left Text — Arabic and Hebrew text direction now reaches more screens, including the Support view.

ℹ️ Upcoming Change

  • • Mindful Bell Moves to ZenOmm — Mindful Bell will move to our ZenOmm app in the next update, and its settings will not carry over. A notice with a copyable promo code for ZenOmm and a link to Google Play appears in What's New and at the top of the Mindful Bell view.

v2.2.45 — Routine Reminders & Navigation Update

Type: Feature + UX + Stability Tags: routine-reminders, swipe-navigation, thai-language, premium, android-stability

Highlights

  • • Schedule routine reminders by weekday and time, then jump directly into the linked routine from the notification.
  • • Customize swipe navigation so the app views you use most are easiest to reach.
  • • Thai app interface support joins Premium access and Android stability reliability fixes.

✨ New Features

  • • Routine Reminders — Schedule routine reminder notifications by weekday and time. Tapping a reminder opens the linked routine directly. Long-press a routine to open the context menu, then tap "Schedule reminder" to set one up.
  • • Skip a Set — Long-press the Skip Back or Skip Forward buttons in the interval timer to skip an entire set.

🎨 UI Improvements

  • • Custom Swipe Navigation — Choose which app views appear in swipe navigation from Settings. All views remain available from the menu.

🌍 Localization

  • • Thai App Interface — Thai language support is now available for the full app interface, bringing Yay!Timer to 29 UI languages. Thai voice announcements were already supported.

🛠 Reliability

  • • Premium Access Reliability — Improved Premium access checks so unlocked features are recognized more reliably.
  • • Persistent Mode Announcements — Disabled reps are no longer announced as "1 reps".
  • • Android Stability — Fixed WebView ANRs and GPU crashes on some phone models.

v2.1.39 — Sharing, Themes & Accessibility Update

Type: Feature + Accessibility + Reliability Tags: routine-sharing, import-export, themes, accessibility, mindful-bell, romanian

Highlights

  • • Share routines privately as links, files, or QR image cards without uploading routine data from your phone.
  • • Choose new themes and color-vision modes for a more comfortable, accessible interface.
  • • Import/export, Mindful Bell notifications, and countdown reboot recovery are more reliable.

✨ New Features

  • • Routine Sharing — Share routines as private links, files, or image cards with QR codes. The entire routine is encoded directly into the link or QR code, so no routine data is uploaded from your phone.
  • • Theme Selector — Choose from Warm Light, Warm Dark, True Black, and Auto/System themes.
  • • Color-Vision Modes — New accessibility modes improve red-green and blue-yellow color distinction.

🎨 UI Improvements

  • • Import & Export Upgrades — Import/export now supports multi-select sharing, selective import, and safer merge flows. Long-press a routine to open the context menu, then tap "Select" to activate multi-select mode.
  • • Collapsible Settings Cards — Settings cards are now collapsible and reordered for faster access.
  • • Helpful Button Labels — Long-press icon buttons to see helpful toast labels.

🛠 Reliability

  • • Mindful Bell Reliability — Mindful Bell notifications stay visible and recover more reliably.

🌍 Localization

  • • Romanian App Interface — Romanian is now available as a full app interface language, bringing Yay!Timer to 28 UI languages.

🐛 Bug Fixes

  • • Countdown Reboot Recovery — Countdown timers now recover correctly after a device reboot.

v2.1.36 — Stability & Ad Experience Update

Type: Stability + UX Tags: ads, reliability, ui, premium-access, admob

Highlights

  • • Rewarded and interstitial ads respond faster when no ad is available.
  • • Background ad loading and reconnect handling make ads more likely to be ready when needed.
  • • Ad buttons and menu actions now give clearer, more honest status feedback.

⚡ Performance

  • • Faster Ad Responses — Reduced ad loading timeout from 15 seconds to 1–3 seconds so you're never left waiting on a spinner when no ad is available.

🎨 UI Improvements

  • • Clearer UI Feedback — Ad buttons now show real-time availability status (e.g., "Loading…") and labels update dynamically — "Continue Free" becomes simply "Continue" when no ad will be shown, so the interface is always honest about what to expect.
  • • Instant Menu Feedback — The "Watch Ad" menu option now checks availability instantly and shows a clear "Ad not ready" message if no ad is loaded, without closing the menu or making you wait.

🛠 Reliability

  • • Improved Ad Experience — Significantly improved the user experience when rewarded or interstitial ads are unavailable. New apps and certain regions may have low ad fill rates during the first 24–72 hours (sometimes up to 2 weeks) while Google AdMob calibrates inventory. This update ensures the app handles those situations gracefully:
  • • Smarter Background Loading — Ads are now automatically re-loaded when the app resumes or reconnects to the network, so they're more likely to be ready when you need them.
  • • Self-Healing Preferences — If your saved ad choice fails repeatedly, the app automatically resets it and shows all available options instead of trapping you in a loop.

v2.1.35 — Mindful Bell & Bell-Only Mode Update

Type: Major Feature + UX + Localization Tags: mindful-bell, bell-only-mode, announce-next, localization, rewarded-ads, routine-manager

Highlights

  • • Mindful Bell adds scheduled bells, meditation sessions, presets, and guided awareness prompts.
  • • Bell-Only Mode and Announce Next Interval make interval routines calmer and easier to follow.
  • • Yay!Timer expands to 27 UI languages, 32 voice languages, and a free rewarded-ad unlock option.

✨ New Features

  • • Mindful Bell — A new standalone mindfulness view with scheduled bells at configurable intervals. Choose from 12 bell sounds, 8 presets, session mode for timed meditation, and guided awareness prompts. Bells fire reliably even when the app is closed. Free basic bell; guided mode and session mode are premium features.
  • • Bell-Only Mode — Replace voice announcements with configurable bell sounds on a per-interval or per-routine basis. Perfect for breathing, meditation, and yoga routines where voice breaks concentration. 9 bell sounds including Tibetan Bowl, Singing Bowl, Zen Bell, and more.
  • • Announce Next Interval & Countdown (in simple mode) — Opt-in spoken "Next: [name]" preview at 10 seconds before each interval ends, plus a spoken countdown (5-4-3-2) at 5 seconds. A visual "Next Up" preview line is always shown on the timer display.
  • • Rewarded Ads — Watch a short video to unlock all premium features for 4 days. Ads never block you — choose between rewarded video, interstitial, or upgrading to lifetime premium.

🎨 UI Improvements

  • • Collapsible Routine Manager Header — The header and info row now collapse to save screen space, showing 3–4 more routines at a glance. Import/Export buttons moved to the action bar for quick access.
  • • Long-Press on Group Headers — Long-press routine group headers to open the context menu, matching the existing long-press behavior on routine rows.
  • • Preview Modal Language Badge — The routine preview modal now shows the TTS voice language alongside other metadata.

  • • 3 New Voice Languages — Swedish, Norwegian Bokmål, and Hungarian (32 total voice languages).
